We are embodied spirits with weaknesses and limitations. We will be until death, when our spirits will vacate our weakening shells. Until then, the Lord will help us learn to fight the fear and inner restlessness we call anxiety by laying hold of our future hope. One day, at the resurrection, we shall receive new and imperishable bodies that will leave all their weaknesses behind (1 Cor. 15:52).
– Paul Tautges

Loss of sleep is a common result of anxiety. We toss and turn, upset by what happened today and worried about what tomorrow might bring. Overdue bills. Relational conflict. Results of a family member’s CT scan. Whatever the cause of our upset, anxiety is a thief. But there’s a way to arrest what robs you of a good night’s rest.
Choose to Rejoice
Anxiety is a joy-killer. It feeds on, and often exaggerates, actual problems or potential negative outcomes. The resulting inner agitation that we feel undermines our calm and gentleness. But, as Christ-followers, we should not be known for a negative spirit; we should be known for a peaceful, hopeful spirit. This Christlike demeanor is within our reach, because it begins with a choice
The Gatekeeper of Your Anxious Heart
God wants us to bring everything to Him in prayer because we need the humility and dependence that prayer effects in us. As a result of prayer, the peace of God protects our hearts and minds from fear. God’s peace commands anxious thoughts to leave and prevents new ones from entering. This inner peace has three qualities.
