8 Truths to Remember in the Midst of Sadness

Download Resource Card
In truth, depression is a form of suffering. Thus, all of God’s promises and exhortations that apply to suffering apply to depression as well. This gives great hope to strugglers. In fact, it gives all of the hope of God’s promises.
Dr. Jim Newheiser
I'm thrilled for the chance to share a new resource card with you, authored by my friend and mentor Dr. Jim Newheiser, who is the Associate Professor of Christian Counseling and Pastoral Theology and the Director of the Christian Counseling Program at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. With permission of the Counseling Program, I submit to you one of their most recent printable resource cards entitled, 8 Truths to Remember in the Midst of Sadness.

The card references 8 common lies we may find ourselves listening to as we walk through seasons of sorrows, and pits them against eternal biblical truths. By providing a wealth of key Scripture references, Dr. Newheiser reminds the sorrowing to look to their identity in Christ and God's unchanging character as a means of sustaining grace.

This resource card offers the hope of the gospel in clear and simple terms—just the kind of manna one needs to make it through the day while trusting God for tomorrow.

I recommend printing out a copy and keeping it in your Bible. Print extras to hand out to friends and family, or take a stack of cards to your church as a resource. You can also make good use of the card by using the Scripture references as a guide for personal study and memorization.
To download a copy of this two-sided printable resource card, click the button below. Special thanks to Dr. Jim Newheiser and Dr. Nate Brooks, the Coordinator of the Christian Counseling Program at RTS Charlotte, for making this resource card available to my readers.
