On a sermon entitled, "The Dangers of Doubting," Charles Spurgeon masterfully unfolded 1 Samuel 27:1, which reads:
"Then David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish one day by the hand of Saul."
There's no question David's heart was revealed through this statement.
